Are you ready for the 2021 HBCU 5k Run Walk? Have you found your tribe and your trail? If not, we have another great suggestion for you. Last week we toured you through Cascade Springs Nature Reserve, and this week we’re traveling just a little further north to Cochran Shoals Trail, right off of I-285 in Marietta. We’ve gathered our tribe, made up of our dear friends/family, Jonathan – Alabama A&M, and LaToya – spouse and honorary A&M Bulldog. (You can’t just marry an HBCU alum, you have to also marry the HBCU.)

If you enjoyed the tour of Cascade Springs, but are looking for something different, try Cochran Shoals Trail. Cochran Shoals offers more than four miles of wide, level gravel trails running along the Chattahoochee River. Cochran Shoals Trail is the perfect place to plan your 5k Run Walk, so make sure you register for team Staples InTents and select the university you want to support.
Make sure you check out the video below, where we do a little 5k Run Walk recon and tour you through the beautiful Cochran Shoals Trail.
Suggested Items to Carry on your 5k Run Walk at Cochran Shoals Trail:
- Inspect Repellant
- Water
- Tissue
- Chair
- Blanket
- Snacks
- $5 parking fee
General Considerations:
- Remember, leaves of three, let them be. The leaves of many poisonous plants, like poison oak and poison ivy, grow in groups of three.
- Always stay on the trail. This not only protects the trail but protects you.
- Practice basic Leave No Trace principles and take all of your trash with you. It’s even a great idea to pick up any trash you find along the way.
Special thanks to Legacy History Pride, for providing the dope HBCU apparel featured in all photos and videos and to David Yates Digital for shooting and editing the video.
